The Codex Tree is an outlining tool that is tied to a mini-rich-text word processor. Use the Codex Tree to organize all of your notes, to write adventures, to store frequently referenced game rules, or to have campaign information at your fingertips. All of your important information will be right at your fingertips to keep the game running smoothly! The Codex Tree can handle an unlimited number of entries and the Rich-Text window can hold as much text as you like.
As you move through the Codex Tree, the output window automatically updates to show you the new notes. Optionally, you can open notes in a second (or third, or fourth, etc) window so that you can look at multiple notes at the same time.

The Codex Tree can also be also store any of Familiar's "database" objects (spells, monsters, feats, skills, etc.). Just drag-and-drop the database object you want onto the Tree. Double-clicking in the tree will instantly bring that entry up for you. You can organize the information any way you want and have it all available instantly. Your players will be awed by your instant, encyclopedic knowledge.
The Codex Tree can also store a combat encounter. Create an entry for the combat and drag all the monsters you want for the combat onto that entry. When the encounter is ready to start, drag the first entry to the Combat Board and all of the monsters will be automatically added with hit points and initiative being being rolled if you want! In the example above, you could drag "Monsters" to the Combat Board and Krom, 2 Orcs, and an Ogre would be added. When your PCs open a door, you'll be able to instantly start the combat instead of looking up monsters, rolling initiative, rolling hit points, and everything else that slows down a battle and makes it boring. DM's Familiar will keep your players on the edge of their seats!
